Happy to provide the giveaway. This a true story and as stated below Davida and Augustus are my great-grandparents. There is very little known about her so I was able to use my imagination to create my great-grandmother. Thank you for your interest.

Thank you for introducing me to Karen Ingalls and her books! I was very intrigued to learn that the author is the great-granddaughter from this union and how the union affected so many people and especially her grandfather. magenta 2 red [at] gmail [dot] com

My grandfather did suffer being labeled a bastard child and not having a lot of quality time with his father, Augustus. Growing up I never heard my grandfather talk about his parents, except once when he began to cry talking about his mother’s painful death. Everything regarding my grandfather’s childhood was a secret.
I wrote the book Novy’s Son which demonstrates how my grandfather was unable to be a father to his sons because of his lack of a relationship with his father. Robert Bly wrote about the loss of father-son relationships in the best seller, Iron John.

There is very little known about Davida. Only her first name by birth, she was from Sweden, and that her model name was Davida. I loved using my imagination in creating her. I do have a copy of a letter from the grandson whose grandmother was Davida’s closest friend. I relied on those descriptions of her.
