Alexa: Thank you so much for having me you on your blog today, Cheryl! It’s an honor for me to be here and to introduce my new release, Heart Unbroken, and its heroine, Emma Hughes. Emma made mistakes in her past but strives to change for the better.
Emma: Um, I’m not sure I like that kind of introduction. But I guess I deserve it (squirming in her seat). It’s not easy to be back in the town where everybody knows my past and some people look down at me. But it’s worth it to be close to my little boy again. I want so badly for him to love me and trust me again.
Alexa: I understand not everybody looks down at you. You have great friends, too.
Emma (smiling): And some of them are the people I’d least expect to befriend. Take Joy, for example. She has all I once had: a loving husband and a beautiful little boy. My ex-husband and my son! Yes, I abandoned them because, well, you know why. But now I have to see the reminder of my errors every day for long hours. Joy is my co-chef. Amazingly, she’s also becoming my best friend who supports me. Go figure.
Alexa: Speaking about people who support you. I heard there’s a vacationer, somebody by the name of Rodrigo, who is rumored to spend a lot of time with you. You know there are no secrets in small towns. People say you’re becoming more than just friends.
Emma (blushing): Oh, come on! Okay, I can’t deny I’m falling for Rodrigo. And he seems to feel the same way. He makes me believe I’m worthy of God’s love. Rodrigo is changing the way I look at things. I grow in my faith, and I’m thankful to God that He put Rodrigo in my path. But Rodrigo is a sheriff whose wife was killed by a junkie. And I am… You know who I am. He probably won’t be re-elected if he stays with me. I’d never stand in the way of his career. Besides, once his vacation is over, he’ll leave and forget all about me.
Alexa: Maybe God has a different plan for you, a much better one than you have for yourself.
Emma: Should I have hope that I can have a happily ever after, too?
Alexa: Faith, love, and hope are wonderful gifts given to all of us.
Emma: Even to people like me?
Alexa: Especially to people like you.
